A two-student team from Technology Center of DuPage was the Grand Prize winner for the state of Illinois in the Microsoft® “bliink” Web design contest. Andrey Danilkovich of Bloomingdale and German Fomin of Villa Park created the winning design using the Microsoft® Expression® suite of software tools to showcase the contest theme: “I Imagine a Green Future.”
Calling themselves Team Life Design, Danilkovich and Fomin developed a site named “Our Green Future” to inform people about changes and actions they can personally make to positively affect the environment. They each won a Zune video media player, a $300 cash card, and a trip to Washington, DC on April 24-26 to receive their award, sightsee, and observe the Microsoft Imagine Cup US Finals (college level competitors). Both students are seniors from Glenbard East H.S. in Lombard enrolled in TCD’s Computer Information Systems program.
“Bliink” is a Microsoft-sponsored Web design contest for high school students encouraging them to dream big and express their ideas while building their technology skills. An internal panel of Microsoft judges reviewed all entries and turned the top ten percent over for review by a second panel of judges including educators, professional Web designers, employees and artists. Judging criteria include: creativity/original ideas; content and clarity; organization/navigation; and visual presentation/design.
In announcing TCD’s win, contest organizers stated: “Your website was creative, innovative, and generally excellent. The judges were impressed with your work.”
