    Board-Director Relationship 

    The Board of Directors employs and evaluates the Director and holds him or her responsible for the operation of DAOES in accordance with Board policies and State and federal law.

    The Board-Director relationship is based on mutual respect for their complementary roles.  The relationship requires clear communication of expectations regarding the duties and responsibilities of both the Board and Director.

    The Board hires, evaluates, and seeks the recommendations of the Director as the DAOES chief executive officer.  The Board adopts policies necessary to provide general direction for DAOES and to encourage achievement of DAOES goals.  The Director develops plans, programs, and procedures needed to implement the policies and directs the day-to-day operations of DAOES.
