March, 2025 Students of the Month

Mya Calderon has been named a Student of the Month for March.  Mya is a senior at Elmwood Park High School and a 2nd year student in TCD’s Cosmetology program.

 

In her nomination, Mrs. Tenuta, Cosmetology program coordinator and Mya’s instructor, stated, “Mya is a shining example of dedication, perseverance, and excellence, making her the perfect choice for Student of the Month. Throughout her time at TCD, she has consistently demonstrated a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to learning and growth.

 

One of the most commendable aspects of Mya is her outstanding attendance. She shows up every day, ready to engage and contribute. Her reliability extends beyond the classroom, as she also takes advantage of extra-hour opportunities to refine her skills, seek additional help, and goes the extra mile in their education.

Academically, Mya maintains excellent grades, proving her dedication to her studies and her ability to balance responsibilities effectively. Her participation in hands-on learning and class projects sets her apart as a student who not only absorbs knowledge but also applies it in meaningful ways.

 

Beyond academics, Mya has played a crucial role in bringing in clients, demonstrating initiative and professionalism. Her ability to represent the program and encourage community engagement showcases her leadership skills and passion for the Cosmetology field.”

 

For her unwavering dedication, outstanding performance, and commitment to both personal and academic growth, Mya is truly deserving of the Student of the Month. She embodies the qualities of a model student and leave a lasting impact on her classmates, teachers, and the school as a whole.

Tessa Kuehn has been named a Student of the Month for March.  Tessa is a senior at Glenbard South High School and a student in TCD’s Medical Terminology & Healthcare Careers program.

 

In her nomination, Ms. Lemaire, Medical Terminology instructor, stated, “Tessa stands out for her commitment to going above and beyond in completing her assignments. She consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to do her best in every task.

 

Beyond her academic achievements, Tessa’s willingness to share her knowledge and assist her classmates has a profoundly positive impact on our classroom environment. She is always eager to help others understand concepts and is a dependable resource for her peers. Her kindness and willingness to support others foster a collaborative and encouraging atmosphere within the class.

 

Tessa’s positive attitude is contagious, and she comes to class each day with a strong drive to learn and a joyful spirit. Her presence not only elevates the energy of the class but also inspires those around her to strive for success. She is an absolute pleasure to have in class, and her positive contributions have not gone unnoticed.”
