October 2025 Students of the Month
Simrana Tairova has been named a DAOES student of the month for October. Simrana is a senior at Wheaton North High School and a student in our Emergency Medical Technician program.
In his nomination EMT coordinator and one of the EMT instructors, Lt. Bayne, wrote, “Simrana is off to an outstanding start in the EMT program. She consistently demonstrates dedication, professionalism, and a genuine passion for learning. All of her assignments are turned in on time and completed with care and accuracy.
Beyond academics, Simrana exemplifies the qualities of a model student. She engages actively in class discussions, asks thoughtful questions, and contributes valuable insights that enhance the learning experience for everyone. She willingly assists her classmates, offering help during skills practice and sharing her understanding of complex concepts in a supportive and encouraging way.
Simrana also interacts respectfully and positively with all instructors, showing a strong commitment to teamwork and communication—key traits for success in the EMT field. Her hands-on skills are equally impressive, as she approaches each practical exercise with focus, confidence, and competence.
Overall, Simrana sets a high standard for academic excellence, professionalism, and collaboration. Her positive attitude and work ethic make her an outstanding representative of the EMT program and a truly deserving candidate for this award.”
Caterina Moreci has been names a DAOES student of the month for October. Caterina is a senior from Addison Trail High School and a student in our Criminal Justice program.
In their nomination, Criminal Justice instructors Mrs. Jones and Mr. Bluder stated, “We are proud to nominate Caterina Moreci for October Student of the Month.
Caterina demonstrates outstanding leadership skills, dedication, and a sincere passion for the field of criminal justice. She consistently excels academically, actively participates in class discussions, and takes initiative both inside and outside of the classroom.
Caterina volunteered to serve as an ambassador for the TCD Open House on Thursday, September 18th. She remained present throughout the evening, assisting instructors, welcoming parents, and engaging with potential students. Her professionalism and positive attitude made her a strong representative of the Criminal Justice program.
Additionally, Caterina has gone above and beyond by creating and submitting two video projects (a police body cam critique and a documentary) to enrich classroom learning. She has maintained excellent attendance—absent only for a school-sponsored field trip—and approaches each day with enthusiasm, always arriving to class with a smile.
Caterina’s academic excellence, commitment to the program, and genuine interest in the profession make her a truly deserving recipient of the October Student of the Month recognition.”
