• 2020-2021 Fall Schedule

    Posted by Mr. Hlavacs, TCD Principal on 7/29/2020 2:30:00 PM

    Greetings Students, Parents, & Guardians,

    Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) will be opening for in-person and remote learning this year.  Please accept my apologies for the timing of this information.  TCD serves 14 DuPage area school districts with 24 high schools in those districts.  We also work with additional schools outside of the DuPage area districts.  This presented TCD with some unique planning considerations that required us to find out how our sending schools/districts were planning their school year. There have been a number of twists and turns along the way and some of our sending schools have even made changes to their plans within the last 24 hours. TCD’s plan is below.  We are offering a hybrid model in an effort to accommodate our sending schools’ hybrid plans as well as online only options. TCD will be open for in-person learning 5 days a week in order to work with sending schools hybrid models.

    1.  Schedule—Our Plan is being labeled a Hybrid model in an effort to accommodate all of the hybrid models from our sending schools. TCD will offer In-Person schooling 5 days a week. This means that there is a possibility of students having daily attendance in their program in person all 5 days in a week.  There is a caveat to this as we have some programs that will have to have a limit on daily in-person attendance due to capacity restrictions in the program spaces (based on IDPH and ISBE guidelines).  We will also be providing remote instruction for students who cannot attend TCD all 5 days as well. In order to follow the guidelines for social distancing, we will work with each high school to determine if we need to adjust processes and procedures for the days, any school will be allowing students to attend in-person.

        A. All Choices for your students' schedules must be coordinated through their home school.  This  means if you have chosen an online only option with your child’s home school and still want them to attend in-person classes at TCD that is a possibility that must be worked out through the home school. The same goes for students attending on remote learning days for the hybrid model their home school is offering. Below are the choices that must be worked out with the home school:

            1. Online at the home school and in-person at TCD
            2. In-person at home school and online at TCD
            3. Online at home school and online at TCD
            4. In-person at homeschool and in-person at TCD

        B. Any transportation questions are to be directed to the sending schools.

    1. Certain schools do not allow students to drive to TCD on their own. The privilege to drive and park is determined by the homeschool.  Parents are also welcome to drop off and pick up their students if they choose.
    2. If students are permitted to drive to TCD they are not allowed to transport any other students to and from TCD unless the other person is a sibling who also attends TCD.
    3. TCD parking permit application is located at the link below. Please follow the steps in order. https://www.tcdupage.org/domain/322

    2.  All TCD programs will be offered in either a hybrid model that reflects the schedule your school follows or remote only option.  Therefore, if a student has selected the online option for their District, we will provide an online option at TCD.  While we are offering this option, we can only promise to make adjustments for the high school grade and credit part of a program.

    1. Dual Credit and/or certifications sometimes require extensive hands-on learning and may not be able to be guaranteed in an online only format.
    2. If a student selects the Online only option with their district we will need to be notified if they are going to be online only with TCD as well or if they/your district still plans on them physically attending classes here at TCD.  This is to be coordinated with the home school.

    3. TCD will be performing daily temperature checks and certifying students as they enter our building.

    4. August 19 will be first TCD school day for students unless the home school starts at a later date.

    5. Students and staff will be required to wear masks while at TCD.

    6. TCD will be issuing 2 reusable masks to both students and staff.

    If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me,

    Thank you,

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Saludos estudiantes, padres y tutores,
    El Centro de Tecnología de DuPage (TCD) se abrirá para el aprendizaje en persona y remoto este año. Acepte mis disculpas por el momento de esta información. TCD sirve a 14 distritos escolares del área de DuPage con 24 escuelas secundarias en esos distritos. También trabajamos con escuelas adicionales fuera de los distritos del área de DuPage. Esto presentó a TCD algunas consideraciones de planificación únicas que nos obligaron a descubrir cómo nuestras escuelas / distritos emisores estaban planeando su año escolar. A lo largo del camino ha habido una serie de giros y vueltas y algunas de nuestras escuelas de envío incluso han realizado cambios en sus planes en las últimas 24 horas. El plan de TCD está a continuación. Estamos ofreciendo un modelo híbrido en un esfuerzo por acomodar los planes híbridos de nuestras escuelas emisoras, así como también opciones en línea. TCD estará abierto para el aprendizaje en persona 5 días a la semana para trabajar con el envío de modelos híbridos a las escuelas.
    1. Nuestro plan está siendo etiquetado como un modelo híbrido en un esfuerzo por acomodar todos los modelos híbridos de nuestras escuelas de origen. TCD ofrecerá educación en persona 5 días a la semana. Esto significa que existe la posibilidad de que los estudiantes tengan asistencia diaria a su programa en persona los 5 días de la semana. Hay una advertencia sobre esto, ya que tenemos algunos programas que tendrán que tener un límite en la asistencia diaria en persona debido a restricciones de capacidad en los espacios del programa (según las pautas IDPH e ISBE). También proporcionaremos instrucción remota para los estudiantes que no puedan asistir a TCD los 5 días. Para seguir las pautas de distanciamiento social, trabajaremos con cada escuela secundaria para determinar si necesitamos ajustar los procesos y procedimientos para los días, cualquier escuela permitirá que los estudiantes asistan en persona.
    1. Todas las opciones para los horarios de sus estudiantes deben coordinarse a través de su escuela de origen. Esto significa que si ha elegido una opción solo en línea con la escuela de origen de su hijo y aún quiere que asista a clases en persona en TCD, es una posibilidad, y debe resolverse a través de la escuela de origen. Lo mismo ocurre con los estudiantes que asisten en días de aprendizaje remoto para el modelo híbrido que ofrece su escuela de origen. A continuación, se presentan las opciones que deben resolverse con la escuela de origen:
             1. En línea en la escuela de origen y en persona en TCD
             2. En persona en la escuela en casa y en línea en TCD
             3. En línea en la escuela de origen y en línea en TCD
             4. En persona en la escuela en casa y en persona en TCD
    1. Cualquier pregunta relacionado al transporte debe ser dirigida a las escuelas emisoras.
      1. Ciertas escuelas no permiten que los estudiantes manejen a TCD por su cuenta. La escuela emisora determina el privilegio de conducir y estacionar. Los padres también pueden dejar y recoger a sus estudiantes si así lo desean.
      2. Si a los estudiantes se les permite conducir a TCD, no se les permite transportar a otros estudiantes hacia y desde TCD a menos que la otra persona sea un hermano que también asista a TCD.
      3. La solicitud de permiso de estacionamiento enTCD se encuentra en el siguiente enlace. Por favor siga los pasos en orden. https://www.tcdupage.org/domain/322
    2. Todos los programas de TCD se ofrecerán en un modelo híbrido que refleje el horario que sigue su escuela o la opción solo remota. Por lo tanto, si un estudiante ha seleccionado la opción en línea para su Distrito, proporcionaremos una opción en línea en TCD. Si bien ofrecemos esta opción, solo podemos prometer hacer ajustes para la calificación de la escuela secundaria y la parte de crédito de un programa.
    1. El crédito dual y / o las certificaciones a veces requieren un aprendizaje práctico extenso y es posible que no se puedan garantizar en un formato solo en línea.
    2. Si un estudiante selecciona la opción Solo en línea con su distrito, seremos notificados si también estarán en línea solo con TCD o si ellos / su distrito aún planea que asistan físicamente a clases aquí en TCD. Esto se coordinará con la escuela de origen.
    3. TCD realizará controles diarios de temperatura y certificará a los estudiantes cuando ingresen a nuestro edificio.
    4. El 19 de agosto será el primer día escolar de TCD para los estudiantes, a menos que la escuela de origen comience en una fecha posterior.
    5. Los estudiantes y el personal deberán usar máscaras mientras estén en TCD.
    6. TCD emitirá 2 máscaras reutilizables para los estudiantes y el personal.
    Si tiene alguna pregunta, no dude en preguntarme,
    The Technology Center of DuPage is closely monitoring local, state and federal developments regarding the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The safety, health and well-being of our staff and students remains our top priority.
    The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) recently released Education-Related Guidance for Illinois Schools and School Districts regarding Coronavirus/COVID-19. Please read ISBE’s information presented in a helpful FAQ format, which addresses such topics as who would make the decision to close school and other important information.
    Following ISBE’s guidance, the District’s most recent decisions and actions include the following March 14, 2020 through April 3, 2020:
    • All in-house events that include outside visitors are cancelled.
    • Visitors and guest speakers are not allowed on campus
    • All outside clinical experiences are suspended.
    • All students on internship experiences will return to TCD full-time.
    • All field trips are cancelled
    • All in-state and out-of-state overnight trips and events are cancelled
    • All in-state and out-of-state staff professional development is cancelled
    • Requesting Building Administration refrain from making plans at this time to attend out-of-state professional development workshops and conferences. Plans to attend local or in-state professional development should be discussed with district administration.
    • Communicating with vendors (e.g. transportation and food services) about standard operating procedures to ensure safety for our students and staff.
    • Developing contingency plans for a potential school closing. The Governor and the Illinois Department of Public Health does not currently recommend closing schools.
    • Reviewing the 2019-2020 School Calendar The District has five emergency days allocated in the school calendar. Typical uses of Emergency Days include severe weather conditions but would also include circumstances related to COVID-19. Additionally, the State provides for the possibility of An Act of God Day, which is used for a condition beyond the control of the district that poses a hazardous threat to the health and safety of the students. Act of God Days may only be requested after the district has exhausted all of its Proposed Emergency Days built into the proposed calendar.
    As an important reminder to staff, the best way to prevent infection is to take precautions to avoid exposure. The Illinois Department of Public Health recommends the following everyday actions to help prevent the spread of illnesses:
    • Stay home when you are sick. (must be free of fever and vomiting for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school)
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
    As a reminder, hand sanitizer dispensers are spaced every 30-40 feet throughout the main hallway.  Dispensers are also located in the North, East and West Diamonds.  Our Maintenance Staff has or will distributed to all programs by the end of today hospital grade disinfectant spray bottles and towels.  Please use this material to assist in keeping the surfaces in our programs clean.
    The Technology Center of DuPage will continue working closely with our partner districts, and local and state public health officials to monitor this situation and develop contingency plans. We understand that the rapidly changing environment of this health issue in our district, county, state, nation and across the world creates apprehension. Please continue sharing your questions and concerns with the administration to help us make informed decisions in the best interest of the TCD school community.
    Thank you for your continued partnership to keep our students and school healthy!
    Mike Zimmerman
    DuPage Area Occupational Education System
