Program Description

The Robotics & Automation Technology program prepares students for careers and post-secondary education in robotics, automation, engineering, and advanced technology through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on projects, and industry-focused training. Students develop skills in electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering while designing, building, programming, and troubleshooting automated systems. The curriculum covers robotics programming, industrial automation, CAD design, 3D modeling, rapid prototyping, coding, machine learning applications, hydraulics, pneumatics, and engineering design processes. Students gain experience with industry-standard technologies, including FANUC robotic arms, 3D printers, and engineering software while working toward industry-recognized certifications through NOCTI and NC3. Performance is evaluated through technical projects, practical demonstrations, problem-solving activities, collaboration, safety, attendance, and employability skills. Students learn through a student-centered approach that encourages creativity, teamwork, innovation, and hands-on experimentation. Throughout the program, students develop technical expertise, critical thinking, communication, adaptability, and project management skills while preparing for employment or continued education in robotics, automation, engineering technology, manufacturing, and related STEM fields.
