Welding Technology

Program Description

1 or 2 Year Program

The Welding Technology program prepares students for careers and post-secondary education in welding, fabrication, manufacturing, and skilled trades through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and industry-focused experience. Students develop skills in welding processes, metal fabrication, blueprint reading, and safe work practices while creating and evaluating professional-quality welds. The curriculum covers Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), oxy-fuel welding and cutting, plasma cutting, brazing, joint design, welding symbols, measurement, and fabrication techniques. Students gain experience using industry-standard equipment while following American Welding Society (AWS) safety standards and workplace expectations. Performance is evaluated through technical projects, welding demonstrations, problem-solving activities, safety practices, collaboration, and employability skills. Students learn through a hands-on approach that encourages precision, creativity, and craftsmanship. Throughout the program, students develop technical expertise, communication, adaptability, and fabrication skills while preparing for careers in welding, pipefitting, ironworking, manufacturing, automotive repair, and other skilled trade industries.
