Ms. Amy Read Interim Principal, Technology Center of DuPage

I grew up in DuPage County, so joining the Technology Center of DuPage feels like coming full circle. My career has taken me on an incredible journey from the manufacturing floor to the classroom, and now to a place where innovation and education come together.

Before entering education, I worked as a manufacturing engineer in the aerospace and electric power industries, where I developed a deep appreciation for precision, problem-solving, and the value of skilled trades. That real-world experience later shaped my work as a high school math teacher and dean, helping students see the connection between classroom learning and future careers.

After serving as principal at Spring Avenue Elementary, as well as holding leadership roles at Butler Junior High, Sandburg Middle School, and Stevenson High School, I thought I had closed the book on my career when I retired. But the opportunity to join TCD, an organization that celebrates applied learning, career readiness, and hands-on discovery, was too meaningful to pass up.

I’m excited to bring together my background in engineering, education, and leadership to support TCD’s mission of preparing students for success in both college and career. It’s a privilege to be part of a community that values innovation, collaboration, and authentic learning experiences for every student.
