Course Goals/Objectives



Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. **Essential Terminology**: A comprehensive understanding of the fundamental terms of both television and film production is vital for effective communication within the industry.

  1. **Lighting, Sound, and Production Design**: It’s essential to demonstrate principles of lighting, sound, and production design that not only meet technical requirements but also enhance creative expression, resulting in a polished final product.

  1. **Directing Multi-Camera Productions**: Skillful direction of multi-camera studio productions, commonly found in television, involves coordinating various camera angles and ensuring seamless execution during live broadcasts.

  1. **Script Writing for Television and Film**: Knowledge of diverse script formats for television and film is necessary for crafting engaging narratives that resonate with audiences.

  1. **Control Room Operations**: Competence in operating control room equipment is crucial for managing live production elements in television and facilitating the smooth execution of scenes in film.

  1. **Producing Standard Formats**: The ability to produce basic formats such as talk shows, demonstrations, and news stories for television, as well as short films or feature-length productions, is fundamental to both industries.

  1. **Crew Position Responsibilities**: Efficient execution of individual responsibilities within the film and television production crew is vital for achieving cohesive teamwork and a successful outcome.
