Professional Cooking, Baking & Service
Do you love cooking or baking? Enjoy being creative and working in a team? The Professional Cooking, Baking & Service (ProCBS) program at Technology Center of DuPage prepares students for careers in the $1 trillion restaurant and hospitality industry, which offers countless job opportunities and advancement potential.
ProCBS is affiliated with ProStart, a national program from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF), linking high school courses with hands-on experience. Students can earn industry certifications, college credit through College of DuPage and Joliet Junior College, and compete in culinary and management events for scholarships and career opportunities.
This two-year program teaches advanced culinary and baking skills, kitchen and service techniques, customer relations, cost control, inventory, team-building, and professional communication. Students begin with ServSafe® certification, culinary math, knife skills, and equipment use, then progress through stocks, sauces, baking, desserts, nutrition, and beverage service. After exploring all areas, students choose a track: Professional Cooking, Professional Baking, or TCD to Go, typically spending four days a week in the lab gaining hands-on experience and preparing for a successful culinary career. |
