The NURS1105 course of the TCD Nursing Assistant Training Program prepares students for the Illinois Nurse Assistant Competency Exam.
Students are taught the AHA BLS CPR course for
Adult/Infant/Child CPR/AED Certification.
The SURGT1000 course of the TCD Nursing Assistant program is a pre requites course for any student who plans to enter into a College of DuPage Healthcare Program.
The CSPD1111 course of the TCD Nursing Assistant program prepares students to take the CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Exam.

Achieving IDPH Certification Eligibility to become a Certified Nursing Assistant
Students are eligible to take the state certification exam if they successfully complete the NURS1105 course and meet the IDPH certification criteria, including:
- Maintaining a grade of 78% or higher for each grading period (semesters 1 and 2) through the academic year
- Passing all 21 required clinical competency skills
- Maintaining consistent professional conduct in the classroom, at your home high school, and in the clinical setting
- Strict adherence to program attendance requirements
- Possessing a valid Social Security number
- Meeting all requirements to attend the clinical experience by the set deadline. This includes a completed physical exam, 2 Step TB testing or serum Quantiferon gold results, criminal background check, and a negative urine drug screen. Please note: CoVid vaccines may be required if the clinical facility requests proof of vaccination with a increase in positive cases.
- Completing the minimum (40 hours) mandatory weekend clinical hours
- Students must have a score of 78% or above on each Module Exam
- Pass the final exam with a 78% or above score.
Achieving CBSPD Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Certification
Students are eligible to take the CBSPD certification exam if they successfully complete the CSPD1111 and meet the CBSPD certification criteria, including:
- Maintaining a grade of 78% or higher for the course.
- Maintaining consistent professional conduct in the classroom, at your home high school, and in the clinical setting
- Strict adherence to program attendance requirements
- Pass the final exam with a 78% or above score.
